We weren't sure we would have time
to visit Pompei, the ancient city buried by
the volcanic eruption
of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Once we arrived, it was instantly obvious
that the drive south of Naples was worth the effort.






The excavated town offers a snapshot
of Roman life in the 1st century,
frozen at the moment it was buried.
